Weekly Blog Post

The standards of feminine beauty are presented in almost all forms of popular media, barraging women with images that portray what is considered to be the "ideal body." Beauty is completely unattainable for most women because of media standards. The majority of the models displayed on television and in advertisements are well below what is considered healthy body weight. The media's use of such unrealistic models sends a false message that in order for a woman to be considered beautiful, she must be unhealthy.

I thought that this article related to the movie we watched in class "Miss-representated" because they both show how beauty is presented in the media. However, even though most of our society knows models are mostly photoshopped, but we still consider them beautiful. I think that everyone is beautiful with what they are born with. When the media portrays models that are way below the normal body weight, those who are perfectly healthy start to question their appearance.
